The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premieres of the 2019 Oscar Documentary Shorts Programs Feb. 15-20 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. Now an annual film festival tradition, Sedona audiences will be able to see all of the short documentary films nominated for Academy Awards before the Oscar telecast in late February. Contract Ratio:  34.60. The average over the last year is 37.20. The Ratio has increased due a drop in listings available for sale, especially in West Sedona.
The Average Price per Square Foot of homes that are Under Contract was $284.85 per square foot. The yearly moving average is $321.49 per square foot. For those homes that Closed Escrow this week, the yearly moving average was $268.37 per square foot.
The Labor Department released figures showing that real average hourly earnings, (the nominal rise in wages against the cost of living) rose 1.7% in January on a year-over-year basis. Lat month, the increase was 1.3%, and a year ago, the increase was 0.7%. This rise in inflation-adjusted hourly pay was the largest increase since July 2016.
On Friday, with high hopes of a US - China trade deal, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 443.86 points to 25,883.25. The S&P 500 rose 1.1% to close at 2,775.60, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.6% to close at 7,472.41. This was an eight week improvement for the Dow, the longest since Nov. 3, 2017. It was also the eighth consecutive weekly gain for the Nasdaq, and the seventh for the S&P 500.
U.S. government debt yields remained steady with the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note slightly higher at 2.66% and the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond slightly lower at 2.99%.
A recent poll from Gallup showed that nearly 7 out of 10 participants expected to be "better off" financially by this time next year. The company surveyed 1,017 U.S. adults by phone in January. This level of optimism hasn't been seen for 16 years, as half of respondents said they are in better financial shape than a year ago.
